My Work

Welcome to my portfolio

I'm a filmmaker, journalist and lecturer at Swinburne University in Melbourne, Australia. Welcome to my portfolio of work.

I live and work on the unceded lands of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation.

Trekking the Annapurna Circuit

(short documentary)

"Unvaccinated" is a short documentary production evolving out of my PhD research. I talk to people who have chosen not to have a Covid-19 vaccination, to hear about their relationship to mainstream news, and how their lives on social media have shaped their decisions.

Trekking the Annapurna Circuit (Multimedia documentary)

"Trekking the Annapurna Circuit" was published by the Sydney Morning Herald in 2016 to widespread acclaim. It documents my six-week journey around one of the most popular treks in Nepal, in the wake of the 2015 earthquake. Nine multimedia stories, featuring text, stills and video, are situated on a navigable 3-D map.

Coming soon

"Bunyip" is a micro-budget thriller written by me, and directed and produced by me and Miri Stone. It tells the story of a group of hikers from Sydney who stray into the territory of one of Australia's most feared legends: the bunyip. Some legends have teeth...

I'm a filmmaker, journalist and educator living in Melbourne, Australia. I teach video journalism and documentary filmmaking at Swinburne University of Technology.

Before becoming a uni lecturer, I worked variously as a video journalist, a print journalist, and a filmmaker. My second short film, Shut In, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2011, and I'm the writer-producer-director of two features, Coffee (2009) and Bunyip (coming soon).

In 2022-2023, I am working on a short documentary and a feature documentary as part of my PhD studies. These films, which explore Covid-vaccine-hesitancy and social media, aim to contribute to expanding our understanding of what makes people turn away from mainstream news.
